    Abstract Motivation: Hi-C technology provides insights into the 3D organization of the chromatin, and the single-cell Hi-C method enables researchers to gain knowledge about the chromatin state in individual cell levels. Single-cell Hi-C interaction matrices are high dimensional and very sparse. To cluster thousands of single-cell Hi-C interaction matrices, they are flattened and compiled into one matrix. Depending on the resolution, this matrix can have a few million or even billions of features; therefore, computations can be memory intensive. We present a single-cell Hi-C clustering approach using an approximate nearest neighbors method based on locality-sensitive hashing to reduce the dimensions and the computational resources.
    Results: The presented method can process a 10 kb single-cell Hi-C dataset with 2600 cells and needs 40 GB of memory, while competitive approaches are not computable even with 1 TB of memory. It can be shown that the differentiation of the cells by their chromatin folding properties and, therefore, the quality of the clustering of single-cell Hi-C data is advantageous compared to competitive algorithms.
    Availability and implementation: The presented clustering algorithm is part of the scHiCExplorer, is available on Github https://github.com/joachimwolff/scHiCExplorer, and as a conda package via the bioconda channel. The approximate nearest neighbors implementation is available via https://github.com/joachimwolff/sparse-neighbors-search and as a conda package via the bioconda channel.

    Abstract A level-k model based on a specific salience-pattern is the only model in the literature that accounts for behaviour in hide-and-seek games. This paper presents nine different experiments designed to measure salience. The elicited salience patterns tend to be similar, but none of them is similar to the pattern needed to allow the level-k model explain the hide-and-seek data. When based on any of the empirical salience measures, the salience-based level-k model does not fit the data well.

    Abstract Background: Periprocedural uninterrupted anticoagulation for catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) became standard after positive results of vitamin K antagonist (VKA) trials. Previous studies of uninterrupted direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) vs. VKA have given controversial results. We thus aimed to elucidate the risk/benefit ratio of uninterrupted DOAC vs. VKA during catheter ablation of AF in an updated meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCTs).
    Methods: Online databases were searched for RCTs comparing uninterrupted DOAC to VKA in patients undergoing catheter ablation of AF. Data from retrieved studies were analysed in a comprehensive meta-analysis. Primary safety outcome was major bleeding; primary efficacy outcome was stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA). Secondary outcomes included a composite of major bleeding and stroke or TIA, minor bleeding, acute cerebral lesions on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and mortality.
    Results: Six eligible RCTs comprising 2,369 patients were included. There were no significant differences in DOAC vs. VKA concerning the rates of major bleeding (2.2% vs. 3.8%; odds ratio (OR) 0.69, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.30-1.56;
    Conclusion: Our meta-analysis suggests that uninterrupted DOAC is not superior to VKA in patients undergoing catheter ablation of AF with comparable rates of major bleeding and stroke.

  10. Article: Population structure of the glasshouse whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) shows multiple introductions to the U.K

    Abstract: ... into the U.K. approximately 160 years ago. In the present study, we aimed to understand ... mainly from countries nearest to U.K. ...

    Abstract Whiteflies are major pests of many crops worldwide. Trialeurodes vaporariorum was introduced into the U.K. approximately 160 years ago. In the present study, we aimed to understand their genetic diversity and population structure and thus their invasion history. Mitochondrial CO1 sequencing showed that T. vaporariorum had a low level of variation. Microsatellite analysis showed a high diversity and indicated the presence 2, 6 and 10 clusters, which were, to a limited extent, linked to locations but not to host plants. The primary symbiont Portiera aleyrodidarum was detected in both sexes of T. vaporariorum, whereas only one secondary symbiont Arsenophonus sp. was detected in almost all females but not males. The population structure suggested that glasshouse agroecosystems restricted gene flow between glasshouse whitefly populations and that the movement of glasshouse whitefly was linked to human‐assisted spread. Taken together, the results of the present study suggest multiple but limited numbers of introductions of T. vaporariorum, mainly from countries nearest to U.K.
